Privacy Policy

1. Summary

This summary is not a substitute for the sections below, but nothing below contradicts it.

2. Who we are

Shalom Table is developed and published by Omnia Data Analytics LLC, Phoenix, Arizona, United States (“we”, “us”, “our”). We are the data controller for the limited data described in this policy.

3. No account, no identity

Shalom Table does not require, offer, or support an account. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number, date of birth, or any other identifier. There is no sign-in screen, no password, and no user profile stored on our servers.

Because there is no account, there is nothing on our systems that identifies you as a person, and we are not able to connect any request our service receives to a named individual.

4. Location

4.1 When location is used

Shalom Table requests location access at the “While Using the App” level only. It never requests, and cannot use, background or “Always” location access. If you decline location access, the app remains fully usable: you can search for and select a city manually, and everything else works normally.

4.2 Why location is used

Candle-lighting, sunset, nightfall, and Havdalah times depend on geographic position. Your latitude and longitude are used for exactly one purpose: to calculate the times for your location, together with the correct time zone and the Jewish calendar. Location is not used for advertising, profiling, audience measurement, personalization of any other kind, or geographic targeting of any sort.

4.3 Coordinates are sent to our timing service

We want to be plain about this, because it is the one piece of data that regularly leaves your device.

The request contains no account identifier, no device identifier, no advertising identifier, and no name. As with any request over the internet, your device’s IP address is visible to the service receiving it.

4.4 No location history is retained

We do not build or keep a history of where you have been. Specifically:

• Our timing service does not store the coordinates it receives. They are used to answer the request and are then discarded.
• Coordinates are stripped before anything is written to our reliability telemetry. See section 6.
• The only locations retained anywhere are the places you deliberately save in the app — your home city, saved cities, a temporary travel city — and those are stored on your device, not on our servers. You can delete them at any time in Settings → Locations.

Our service’s infrastructure produces short-lived operational request logs (for example, HTTP status codes and IP addresses) as any internet service does. These are used only to keep the service running and to investigate faults and abuse, are not used to build a profile, and are retained for no more than 30 days.

4.5 Withdrawing location access

You can revoke location access at any time in iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Location Services → Shalom Table. The app will continue to work using cities you select manually.

5. What stays on your device

The following are stored locally on your iPhone and are not transmitted to us:

• Your saved locations and which one is active.
• Your timing profile: calendar region, candle-lighting custom, Havdalah custom, pronunciation tradition.
• Your language and display preferences.
• Your household setup — audience choices, checklist items, tasks you tick off, roles you assign, and any personal notes, custom checklist entries, or family customs you add.
• Reminder settings and downloaded offline content.

Deleting the app from your iPhone deletes this data. Because there is no account, there is no copy of it anywhere else, and deleted data cannot be restored by us.

If you have iCloud Backup enabled in iOS, your device backup may include app data. That backup is governed by Apple’s privacy policy, not by ours, and we have no access to it.

6. Reliability telemetry

Shalom Table records a small amount of anonymous technical telemetry so that we can tell whether the app is working. It is sent to Azure Application Insights, an operational monitoring service we run within our own Azure subscription.

Telemetry is limited to information such as:

• Crash and error reports, including the technical stack trace.
• Whether a request to the timing service succeeded or failed, and how long it took.
• App version, iOS version, and device model.

Coordinates and location data are removed before telemetry is recorded. Telemetry carries no account identifier, no advertising identifier, no name, no email address, and no content you have entered. It is not linked to you and is not used to build a profile, to target anything, or for advertising or marketing. It is used only to find and fix faults.

7. Content corrections you send us

Shalom Table includes a way to report an error in a time, a Hebrew text, a transliteration, a translation, or an explanation. Reporting a correction is entirely voluntary.

When you submit a correction, we receive the item you are reporting, the description you write, and the technical context needed to reproduce the issue (for example the app version and the relevant content version). You are not asked to identify yourself and no account is required.

Please do not include personal or sensitive information in the free-text description. If you choose to include contact details so that we can reply, we will use them only to respond to your report and will delete them once the matter is resolved.

You can also report a correction by email from the support page. Email you send us naturally includes your email address; we use it only to answer you.

8. Notifications

If you allow notifications, Shalom Table schedules reminders locally on your device using the iOS notification system. Reminder times are computed on the device from the times you have already been shown.

We do not operate a push-notification server for Shalom Table, we do not send marketing or promotional notifications, and no notification content is transmitted to us. No engagement notification is sent during Shabbat or a holiday.

You can turn notifications off at any time in iOS Settings → Notifications → Shalom Table.

9. Service providers

We use a small number of providers to run the app. We do not authorise any of them to use data from Shalom Table for their own advertising or marketing.

10. What we never do

• No sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information, and we have not done so in the preceding twelve months.
• No sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising. We do not share personal information with anyone for that purpose, as those terms are defined under California law.
• No advertising. The app contains no advertising of any kind and no advertising SDK.
• No tracking across apps or websites. We do not use the Advertising Identifier (IDFA), do not present App Tracking Transparency prompts, and do not track you across other companies’ apps or sites.
• No third-party analytics. There is no Google Analytics, Firebase, Meta SDK, or comparable third-party analytics or attribution SDK in the app.
• No data brokers. We do not buy, sell, or exchange data with data brokers.
• No user-to-user messaging. There is no chat, no comments, no social feed, and no publicly visible user content.
• No profiling or automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects.
• No inference of religious belief for any commercial purpose. The settings you choose describe how you want the app to behave. They stay on your device, and we do not use them to categorise, target, or market to you.

11. Children

Shalom Table is a family app and includes reading and discussion material intended to be used with children at the table. However:

• There are no child accounts, because there are no accounts at all.
• We do not knowingly collect any personal information from or about children, of any age.
• Choosing an audience such as “young children” or “teens” simply selects which version of a reading is displayed. That choice is stored on the device and is never transmitted to us as information about a person.
• The app has no advertising, no in-app purchases, no external commerce links, and no messaging, so there is nothing for a child to be marketed to or contacted through.

We do not direct the collection of personal information from children under 13 within the meaning of the United States Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA), nor from children under the applicable age of digital consent in the UK, the EEA, or elsewhere. If you believe a child has somehow provided us with personal information — for example by typing it into a correction report — contact us at info@omniadataanalytics.com and we will delete it.

13. Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or port your personal information, to object to or restrict its processing, to opt out of its sale or sharing, and not to be discriminated against for exercising those rights. These include rights under the EU and UK General Data Protection Regulation, the California Consumer Privacy Act as amended, and comparable laws in other US states.

In practice, because Shalom Table has no account:

• We hold nothing that identifies you, so in most cases there is no personal information for us to look up, export, or delete on request. We cannot link a timing request to a person even if asked to.
• You can delete everything the app holds at any time yourself, by deleting saved locations in Settings → Locations or by deleting the app from your device.
• There is no sale or sharing to opt out of, because we do neither.

If you have emailed us or sent a correction report that contains your details, you may ask us to access or delete that correspondence by writing to info@omniadataanalytics.com. We will respond within the time required by applicable law, normally within 30 days. We may need to ask for enough information to locate the correspondence; we will not ask you to create an account.

Where we process personal information about users in the EEA or the UK, our legal basis is our legitimate interest in delivering the times you have asked for and in keeping the service reliable and secure (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). Location access is additionally subject to your permission on the device, which you may withdraw at any time. You have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority.

14. This website

shalomtable.app is a static website hosted on Cloudflare Pages. It sets no cookies, runs no analytics, embeds no tracking pixels, and has no advertising.

The site loads the Lora and Frank Ruhl Libre typefaces from Google Fonts. Your browser therefore makes a request to fonts.googleapis.com and fonts.gstatic.com, which discloses your IP address and browser user-agent to Google as with any third-party resource. Google states that it does not use Google Fonts requests to create profiles of end users or serve advertising; see Google’s Fonts privacy note. No other third-party resource is loaded by this site.

Cloudflare processes standard web-server request data (such as IP address, requested URL, and user-agent) in order to serve and protect the site. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

15. Security

All communication between the app and our service uses HTTPS with TLS. Service credentials are held in Azure Key Vault and are never present in the app. Because the app holds no account and our service stores no coordinates, the amount of data that could be exposed by a breach is deliberately small.

No system is perfectly secure. If we become aware of a security incident affecting personal information, we will notify affected users and regulators where the law requires it.

16. International transfers

We are based in the United States, and our service providers process data in the United States and potentially in other countries where they operate. If you use Shalom Table from outside the United States, the limited data described in this policy will be processed in the United States. Where transfers of personal information out of the EEA or the UK occur, we rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses, or the equivalent UK mechanism, as incorporated in our agreements with those providers.

17. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy we will update the “last updated” date above. If a change materially reduces your privacy — for example if we ever began collecting something new — we will say so prominently on this page and in the app before the change takes effect. We will not apply a materially different practice to data already collected without informing you.

Shalom Table is not yet released. This policy describes the app as it is being built and takes effect for users on the day it is first published to the App Store.
