Content corrections

Report an error in a time or a text

Religious content has to be right, and a mistake should not have to wait a week for an App Store review. Shalom Table’s content is delivered from a service we control, so a corrected time, Hebrew text, transliteration, translation, or explanation can be published to everyone without a new app version.

That only works if we hear about the error. If something looks wrong, please tell us — you do not need to be certain, and you do not need to identify yourself.

Two ways to report

  1. From inside the app. Use the “Report a correction” action on the item that is wrong. This attaches the exact item and content version automatically, which is the fastest route for us. No account is needed and you are not asked who you are.
  2. By email. Use one of the pre-filled links below. They open your mail app with a short template already in place — fill in what you can and delete what you cannot.
  • A time looks wrong

Candle lighting, sunset, nightfall, Havdalah, or a fast time that does not match your community’s schedule.

  • A text looks wrong

An error in Hebrew, in a transliteration, in an English translation, or in an explanation of a step or a term.

  • A community custom is missing

A recognized city custom or a published synagogue time we should offer as an option.

  • Something is broken

A crash, a screen that will not load, a reminder that did not fire, or content that will not download.

What happens to your report

Timing and text corrections are triaged first. A confirmed error in liturgical text or in a displayed time is corrected in the content service and published to every device. We will reply if you gave us a way to reach you.

We may not be able to act on a report that describes a legitimate difference in custom rather than an error — but we would still rather hear it, because a difference we hear about repeatedly usually means we should be offering it as an option.

Please leave personal details out

You do not need to tell us who you are. Please do not include personal or sensitive information in a correction report. If you do include an email address so that we can reply, we use it only to answer you and delete it when the matter is closed. See the privacy policy.

Before you write

Things that are usually not errors

These come up often enough to be worth checking first. The FAQ covers each one in full.

  • Your time differs from your synagogue’s by a few minutes. Communities use different customs — 18, 20, 30, or 40 minutes before sunset, among others. Check what the app shows underneath the time and, if it does not match your community, change your timing profile in Settings → Practice profile. See the FAQ.
  • A holiday appears on a different day, or the weekly portion is different from a friend’s. This is normally the Israel versus Diaspora calendar. See the FAQ.
  • No time is shown at all. At high latitudes the app deliberately refuses to display a time rather than estimate one. See the FAQ.
  • A banner says content is pending review. That is intentional and is explained in the FAQ.
